The first free satellite is up there!

This summer, if you look at the starry sky and see a star that blinks at you, know that it might be it !

In my book on developers, I talked, amongst others, about the project SatNOGs : developing a DYI and open design ground station to listen to satellites (some times, they have interesting stories to tell…). A lot of water has flown under the bridge since. UPSat – the first open source satellite – has been developed in Greece (see picture) through the collaboration of the University of Patras and the Libre Space Foundation. Taking part of an international mission, it was recently sent to the International Space Station where an astronaut will push it to space !
