Il s&rsquo;agissait de ma participation au <i>NASA Academy of Aerospace Quality Workshop <\/i>qui a lieu au <i>NASA Safety Center, <\/i>dans le campus de Cleveland. C\u2019\u00e9tait un colloque tr\u00e8s int\u00e9ressant portant sur les \u00e9volutions en cours dans le domaine de la recherche spatiale et une occasion de partager mes travaux sur la conception des nano-satellites avec cette communaut\u00e9.<\/p>\n<p>Durant le colloque, on pouvait se renseigner davantage sur les tendances actuelles autour de l\u2019exploration spatiale\u00a0: de l\u2019orientation des explorations spatiales <a href=\"http:\/\/aaq.auburn.edu\/sites\/default\/files\/workshops\/2018\/Kearns.pdf\">sur la Lune plut\u00f4t que sur la plan\u00e8te Mars<\/a> au <a href=\"http:\/\/aaq.auburn.edu\/sites\/default\/files\/workshops\/2018\/Razani.pdf\">cadre institutionnel international sur les usages pacifiques de la recherche de l\u2019univers<\/a>, en passant par <a href=\"http:\/\/aaq.auburn.edu\/sites\/default\/files\/workshops\/2018\/Hunter.pdf\">les activit\u00e9s de d\u00e9veloppement des petits vaisseaux spatiaux de la NASA \u00e0 Cleveland<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Les \u00e9volutions actuelles dans l&rsquo;a\u00e9rospatial ont \u00e9t\u00e9 abord\u00e9es surtout en rapport avec le d\u00e9veloppement des petits satellites (les <i>Cubesats<\/i>)<i> \u2013<\/i>un champ de recherche sur lequel je me suis pench\u00e9 il y a plus d\u2019un an.<\/p>\n<p>Ainsi, la plus grande partie des \u00e9tudes pr\u00e9sent\u00e9es\u00a0 \u2013 e.g. celle d\u2019<a href=\"http:\/\/aaq.auburn.edu\/sites\/default\/files\/workshops\/2018\/Ortiz.pdf\">Eduardo I. Ortiz Riviera<\/a> ou celle sur un Cubesat <a href=\"http:\/\/aaq.auburn.edu\/sites\/default\/files\/workshops\/2018\/Ramirez.pdf\">Open Source d\u00e9velopp\u00e9 par la University of Utah<\/a> \u2013 portait sur l\u2019exp\u00e9rience concr\u00e8te du d\u00e9veloppement des nano-satellites. D&rsquo;autres \u00e9tudes abordaient le champ du d\u00e9veloppement des technologies a\u00e9rospatiales du point de vue des doctrines manag\u00e9riales bien connues \u2013 telles que le <a href=\"http:\/\/aaq.auburn.edu\/sites\/default\/files\/workshops\/2018\/Jenab.pdf\">Design Thinking<\/a> ou le <a href=\"http:\/\/aaq.auburn.edu\/sites\/default\/files\/workshops\/2018\/Kovach.pdf\">Six Sigma<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><b>Enjeux Contemporains<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Ce pluralisme de perspectives adopt\u00e9es par les \u00e9tudes pr\u00e9sent\u00e9es est li\u00e9 aux mouvements actuels du secteur de l\u2019a\u00e9rospatial. Cela fait d\u00e9j\u00e0 quelques d\u00e9cennies que cette industrie est gouvern\u00e9e par des m\u00e9thodes et des techniques de contr\u00f4le de qualit\u00e9 tr\u00e8s pr\u00e9cises et tr\u00e8s rigoureuses. Contrairement, par exemple, \u00e0 l\u2019industrie automobile, l\u2019industrie a\u00e9rospatiale d\u00e9veloppe notamment des projets singuliers, dont le co\u00fbt peut souvent d\u00e9passer le $1 milliard. Dans un tel contexte, il n\u2019y a pas de tol\u00e9rance \u00e0 l\u2019erreur &#8211; une contrainte qui traverse, par ailleurs, les m\u00e9thodes de contr\u00f4le de qualit\u00e9 utilis\u00e9es. Par exemple, la logique \u00ab\u00a0<i>trial and error\u00a0\u00bb, <\/i>tr\u00e8s r\u00e9pandue dans d\u2019autres secteurs, n\u2019y a pas de place\u00a0: trouver les bonnes questions suite \u00e0 des nombreux \u00e9checs est hors de question.<\/p>\n<p>Pourtant, une telle rigueur implique \u00e9galement une rigidit\u00e9 tr\u00e8s importante. L\u2019int\u00e9gration des nouvelles techniques, des nouvelles approches ou technologies dans les proc\u00e9dures de cette industrie est, par cons\u00e9quent, plus qu\u2019incertaine. Pourtant, afin qu\u2019une nouvelle technologie puisse devenir efficace, une large exploration de son potentiel est requise en amont (pour une typologie des phases en amont d\u2019une rationalisation industrielle, voir la deuxi\u00e8me partie de <a href=\"\/2014\/01\/22\/when-users-create-industries-the-case-of-web-based-applications\/\">ma th\u00e8se<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>En tout, on pourrait dire que, compar\u00e9 aux proc\u00e9dures standard de l\u2019industrie a\u00e9rospatiale, le d\u00e9veloppement des nano-satellites constitue une autre plan\u00e8te\u00a0!<\/p>\n<p>Introduits en tant qu\u2019outils p\u00e9dagogiques il y a une vingtaine d\u2019ann\u00e9es, les Cubesats sont aujourd\u2019hui r\u00e9pandus dans un ensemble de missions spatiales \u00e0 vocation scientifique ou commerciale. Pourtant, les m\u00e9thodes de conception \u00e9mergeantes sont bien diff\u00e9rentes de ce qu\u2019on connaissait auparavant.<\/p>\n<p><b>Une approche originale\u00a0: le\u00e7ons tir\u00e9es du d\u00e9veloppement des Cubesats<\/b><\/p>\n<p>L\u2019\u00e9tude que j\u2019ai pr\u00e9sent\u00e9 mettait en avant une approche originale. Il s&rsquo;agissait d&rsquo;une \u00e9laboration plus avanc\u00e9e d&rsquo;une premi\u00e8re version que j&rsquo;avais partag\u00e9 dans <a href=\"\/2018\/04\/28\/researching-satellites-in-california\/\">une conf\u00e9rence \u00e0 CalPoly<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Ma collaboration avec deux d\u00e9veloppeurs de l\u2019\u00e9quipe de l\u2019UPSat, A. Masiakos et N. Chronas, ne s\u2019est pas content\u00e9e \u00e0 d\u00e9crire les parties techniques du satellite. Par ailleurs, nous n\u2019avons pas non plus cherch\u00e9 \u00e0 appliquer des doctrines pr\u00eat-\u00e0-porter dans le champ des nano-satellites. Au contraire, nous avons fond\u00e9 notre \u00e9tude sur l\u2019analyse du code du logiciel du satellite en question, visant \u00e0 en tirer des le\u00e7ons pour la miniaturisation des satellites en g\u00e9n\u00e9ral. De plus, nous avons exprim\u00e9 nos conclusions d\u2019une fa\u00e7on g\u00e9n\u00e9rique, \u00e0 ce qu\u2019elles puissent s&rsquo;av\u00e9rer utiles dans d\u2019autres secteurs, au-del\u00e0 de l\u2019a\u00e9rospatial.<\/p>\n<p>Par ailleurs, mon int\u00e9r\u00eat sur les le\u00e7ons \u00ab\u00a0cach\u00e9es\u00a0\u00bb dans le d\u00e9veloppement technologique n\u2019est pas nouveau. Dans <a href=\"\/2014\/01\/22\/when-users-create-industries-the-case-of-web-based-applications\/\">ma th\u00e8se<\/a>, j\u2019ai utilis\u00e9 une approche que j\u2019ai appel\u00e9 \u00ab l&rsquo;arch\u00e9ologie du pr\u00e9sent\u00a0\u00bb pour identifier les normes d\u2019action des d\u00e9veloppeurs. En outre, dans <a href=\"\/2016\/12\/05\/monuments-of-cyberspace-designing-the-internet-beyond-the-network-framework\/\">une \u00e9tude sur l\u2019Internet<\/a>, j\u2019ai propos\u00e9 une rupture avec les th\u00e9ories de r\u00e9seaux partant de l\u2019analyse du protocole TCP.<\/p>\n<p>Cela dit, dans l\u2019\u00e9tude actuelle, nous avons cibl\u00e9 nos recherches sur une partie tr\u00e8s pr\u00e9cise du logiciel de l\u2019UPSat. Faisant usage de la <em>Matrice de Contribution<\/em> (<a href=\"https:\/\/papers.ssrn.com\/sol3\/papers.cfm?abstract_id=3082301\">\u00ab\u00a0Contribution Matrix\u00a0\u00bb<\/a>), m\u00e9thode que j\u2019avais introduite l\u2019ann\u00e9e derni\u00e8re, j\u2019avais d\u00e9j\u00e0 d&rsquo;o\u00f9 commencer : une partie du ce code du satellite \u2013 \u00e0 savoir la partie \u00ab\u00a0ECSS_Services\u00a0\u00bb &#8211; avait servie en tant que \u00ab\u00a0colonne vert\u00e9brale\u00a0\u00bb du projet entier. Nikitas et Apostolis, mes deux co-auteurs, avaient jou\u00e9 un r\u00f4le primordiale dans le d\u00e9veloppement de ce bout de code.<\/p>\n<p><b>Un Cadre G\u00e9n\u00e9rique pour la Miniaturisation des Satellites <\/b><\/p>\n<p>Ainsi est issue le \u00ab\u00a0Cadre G\u00e9n\u00e9rique pour la Miniaturisation des Satellites\u00a0\u00bb que j\u2019ai pr\u00e9sent\u00e9 \u00e0 la NASA : par une \u00ab\u00a0arch\u00e9ologie\u00a0\u00bb du d\u00e9veloppement du satellite UPSat. En fait, dans une de mes \u00e9tudes \u00e9pist\u00e9mologies, j\u2019avais d\u00e9j\u00e0 propos\u00e9 que la <a href=\"\/2016\/11\/30\/around-anne-francoise-schmids-work-the-scientific-potential-of-a-trend-in-epistemology\/\">conceptualisation g\u00e9n\u00e9rique<\/a> peut aider \u00e0 la collaboration des disciplines et des technologies diff\u00e9rentes.<\/p>\n<p>Pour que ses d\u00e9veloppeurs r\u00e9digent la partie analys\u00e9e, ils s\u2019\u00e9taient inspir\u00e9s d&rsquo;un standard de l\u2019industrie a\u00e9rospatiale. N\u00e9anmoins, il ne s&rsquo;agissait pas non plus d&rsquo;une application du standard en question :\u00a0 ceci serait impossible dans une \u00e9chelle si petite !<\/p>\n<p>Ainsi, notre collaboration visait \u00e0 comprendre ce qu\u2019ils avaient fait sur le terrain (sic), afin conceptualiser le passage d\u2019une \u00e9chelle \u00e0 l\u2019autre, sans \u00eatre enferm\u00e9 au langage technique.<\/p>\n<p>Alors, ce Cadre G\u00e9n\u00e9rique est constitu\u00e9 de trois op\u00e9rateurs conceptuels, permettant le passage de l\u2019\u00e9chelle normale \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9chelle nano.
