Next Wednesday I’m invited at the seminar “The Californian model”, organised at the EHESS by Olivier Alexandre exploring the topic “Developers, from a world to another”. My intervention will be on the “discovery” of the class of developers. Here’s the abstract:<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat research in Human and Social Sciences hasn’t found yet: the class of the developers\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Imaginary, culture, counterculture, uses, networks, communities\u2026 Various dimensions of the digital revolution have been examined by the Human and Social Sciences. Yet, the HSS haven’t managed to see the developer, the subject of the current transformations, acting in the heart of the process of emergence and expansion of new technologies. Having as a starting point the book Les d\u00e9veloppeurs<\/a><\/em>, this presentation will reveal the action norms of this class, which doesn’t respect enough the usual frameworks of social and economic analysis for it to become visible for the researchers.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The session will be completed with the intervention of Erin McElroy (UC Santa Cruz\/cofounder of the Anti-Eviction Mapping Project) on the gentrification of San Francisco.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
