On the Fetishism of Admission to the University

In Greece, there is currently a debate on the system of admission to public Universities. The Greek system being amongst the most transparent and open systems in Europe, it has also been criticized because of the great stress it imposes to competing candidates. Thus, it’s been some decades now that education ministers propose reforms promising a more agile system. The article I published in the Journal of Editors (“Efimerida ton Syntakton” in Greek) suggests that instead of action on the admission system, the educational community should rather act on higher education itself, providing more high-level options to young candidates.
